Biodiversity describes the variety of life on Earth—from the diversity within each species to the diversity within ecosystems. Biodiversity
is the source of all the food we consume—from both land and sea. From soil microbes to pollinators to livestock breeds and plant variety,
it contributes to food production. It also helps farmers adapt to climate change. Since the beginning of agriculture, farmers have been
developing new breeds and plant varieties that are adapted to local conditions. While climate change can cause biodiversity loss,
biodiversity can help reduce the negative impact of climate change.
